Yoga Art of Nancy Van Kanegan

For years I have been searching for work like the Yoga Art of Nancy Van Kanegan. Specifically, art that is both decorative and respectful of postures in classical yoga asana. In this case, I discovered the website of The Chicago Yoga Center, and artist Nancy Van Kanegan, who supplied illustrations for their website. Immediately, I knew Nancy Van Kanegan's art was the work I had been hoping to find.

Nancy tells me that she originally came to yoga by way of studying art. She says that "As art functions to integrate the various aspects of culture, so yoga integrates the diversity of the human being, "yoking" the physical, mental and spiritual self." Both art and yoga, according to Nancy, "are concerned with accessing inner intelligence not often recognized by our modern world. In each teaching situation, a sense of delight fills the space, as this discovery happens. The impressions, sensations and images I absorb, while teaching, continue to feed my artistic projects."
And now they can feed us too.
