These beautiful, tightly woven 100% Cotton Yoga Mat Rugs have an ancient pedigree. And yet, like yoga itself they are perfect for modern practitioners. Cotton practice rugs are one of the most eco-friendly yoga mats available as they are completely renewable, biodegradable, as well as being latex and PVC free. Ethically hand-loomed in Mysore they are also supporting the local economy near the shala. Due to the hand-looming there are often slight imperfections in the rugs which give each one a bit of unique character.

These yoga floor coverings, recommended by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his nephew Sharath in Mysore, India for use in the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Practitioners of Bikram, Flow, Hot Yin or any rigorous form of yoga will love the way cotton absorbs moisture and continues to grip even when wet. These rugs are an ample 24" x 74" while most "sticky mats" are narrower and shorter so our mat rugs completely cover them. They weigh about two and a half pounds. Many practitioners like to put their rug over their "sticky mat" for cushioning and to keep cotton against their skin.
