Yoga Life Style T Shirts

Darn.
I knew eventually this had to happen. We are using the
Yoga Life Style Logo in a place where it deserved an explanation.
I haven't wanted to write this explanation because it is
long, complicated and could define it in a way that will
diminish the tendency to explore it. Still, if I'm asking
you to buy it, I guess you deserve to know what it is.
Well here goes. (for those who prefer the mystery or just
don't care please skip the next paragraph.)
A
few years ago, when it became clear we were going to have many thousands of customers,
I wanted to do something to remind people of who we are and create brand identity
for the website and our products. And since the phrase yoga lifestyle crops up
all over these days, I wanted to make something unique and clearly ours. I started
out with the 3 letters YLS since we express our name as 3 words and the length
and shape of the letters drew me into putting these ovoid lines around them which
made them feel like seeds. I really liked this. A seed for yoga, a seed for life
and a seed for style. Places to start and grow from. I played with the colors
of the seeds and the letters. I arranged them vertically and horizontally and
every which way, but it never felt just right. Then I dropped the letters out
entirely and just left the outlines of the seeds which I thought was pretty cool,
but it looked like one of those cut up maps of the world. Like we would be the
AT&T of yoga or something and Clearly that was not the direction I wanted
to head in. I mean we do sell world wide and all, but not with an intent to dominate
just to aide and enhance peoples lives. Well, I just played with the shapes for
a while and I turned the 3 seeds on their side and this was pretty cool too.
It looked like 3 eyes. A little spooky but interesting! Of course one of them
would be the third eye if you counted them. Whoa! Heavy... Ok so I'm on the right
track. And along the way I'm thinking about the growth represented by the seeds
and the vision of the eyes and all the many spiritual things that come in threes
including birth, life and death and then at some point I overlaid the vertical
and horizontal images and I was like Wow! That's it. I'd been working on this
for weeks, on and off, and then, there it was. An attractive image, incorporating
the concepts of growth, renewal and dissolution and vision of reality, inner
knowing and the universal mind all tied up in this abstract geometric pattern
that can be explored for hours, like a good mandala, suitable for meditation.
Yoga Life Style. Right On.
Welcome back to those of you who skipped the explanation.
Oh here's one last thing you should know about the logo. When I introduced it
to our Yoga Life Style softball team t shirts this season a rumor emerged that
this is a
reference to something from Led Zeppelin's 4th album. I have been encouraging
this rumor, since it has a sort of Macho heavy metal feel and I think our softball
team, which has lost many, many games in its 3 year existence, needed a little
more Shiva and little less Shakti energy. And it's working, now we are winning
about as many games as we lose which is a much better balance. The rumor is not
true, of course, but please don't let any of my teammates know this. Thanks.
This
attractive T-shirt is the same color and design as the Yoga Life Style softball
team shirts, except the team shirts have numbers not OMs on the back. They
are high quality 100 percent cotton tees that have stood up to lots of washings
between lots of innings and still look sharp when we are on the field or at work.
Comfortable, loose fitting and perfect for practice (yoga or batting). Plus they
are great conversation starters and will give you a chance to explain to people
about our cool website or what an OM is or why you like burgundy and gold. Welcome
to the Yoga Life Style team!
These shirts come in sizes Small, Medium, Large
and Extra Large and are $20.00 each. |
